worship
“We don’t initiate worship; God does. He reveals; we respond. He discloses; we respond. He unveils; we respond. He chooses to show us how amazing He is; we say, ‘God, You’re amazing!’ Our whole relationship with God works the same way; He loves. We love in return. He calls. We answer. He leads. We follow.” [Lou Giglio]
At abbey west we take a broad perspective regarding spiritual care in the corporate setting and feel a responsibility to offer a variety of spiritual resources for the entirety of our campus, giving everyone an opportunity to respond to the Triune God of Scripture. In other words, for abbey west to be faithful to our ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our diverse setting, we are compelled to provide a diversity of corporate student offerings. Here is a schedule of what we offer regularly:

Mondays
We begin the week by meditating on God's Word to us (meditatio). The focus most of this semester will be going verse by verse through Paul's letter to the Philippians. Our theme passage encourages us, even in uncertain times, to "shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life." (Philippians 2:15b-16).
Tuesdays
Prayer (oratio) is our response based upon a Psalm related to the Philippians reading. After an overview of the Psalm, we will pray it together, followed by 5 minutes for journaling or private/small group prayer. Our theme verses are Philippians 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.
Thursdays
Tentatio comprises spiritual struggle. A brief devotion based upon Monday's reading from Philippians will lead to life application questions to be discussed in small groups (10 minutes). Our theme verse is Philippians 1:29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.
Fridays
We added imitatio to wrap up the week with personal testimonies of faith from various members of CUI's community. The theme verse is Philippians 3:17 where Paul writes, "Join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us." Of course, behind this appeal is 1 Corinthians 11:1, "Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ."
Fridays – ten28 [John 10:28]
Our ten28 outreach experience will be in the Friday time slot once per semester. This chapel is a culturally connected outreach experience for our campus community. A variety of communication mediums associated with the worship arts are used to speak to current issues/topics in the hope that these bridges might cultivate the soil of someone's heart, preparing them to hear the message of Christ.

sunday cu source: communion worship
CU Center - 6:30pm
As John 1:1-4 shows us, Christ is the source of everything we know. Creation, life, everlasting life; it all begins and ends in Him. With our understanding of that truth comes the passion to celebrate Christ as the center and purpose of our worship. He is the source. Our Sunday evening service includes Holy Communion every week, utilizes a small acoustic ensemble, and shares the life-changing message of Jesus.

SHOUT! praise & prayer worship
CU Center – 9:30pm SHOUT! [Psalm 95:1]
SHOUT! is an evening service that offers an expressive, meditative worship experience marked by extended times of praise singing, peer-led devotions, personal reflection, and fervent prayer with other believers.
The atmosphere is low light and low-tech, but high-participation. The music is acoustic and earthy, while the devotions are testimonial in style. This is a place to shout out to the Lord in praise and prayer, not to mention a great way to end your day! 9:30pm.
